Muffin Anyone?

Posted under How I See It

With the proliferation of hip hugger fashions I’ve noticed a correlation of additional skin exposure.  As a male I don’t find objection to this normally.

However.

I’ve noticed that living here in Southern California fashion sense knows no age.  Or size…

Now I’m not an advocate of the fashion statement made by the “Mom Jeans.”  That style of pants that rises above the navel.  Who thought that much coverage was necessary?

But people, let’s understand our limits.  With the huge assortment of possible pant options out there, you’d think that one would be able to find something to flatter their figure.  No matter of size or age.

Here’s a tip that may help the next time your checking out the latest styles and wondering what fits and looks good.

Check the mirror before purchasing.  If the skin hangs over, you’ve got “spillage.”  Step away and try again.

Let’s all do our part in eliminating “muffin topitis.”

I Don’t Usually Do This…

Posted under How I See It

But, this one time I will.

I typically avoid these like the plague.  But occasionally you come across one that either intrigues or enlightens your audience.

You’re all in luck today.  This one is neither.

I was tagged by Kandee for this so if you need someone to blame, go after her.  If not her than go after Mrs. 4444 at Half Past Kissin Time who tagged Kandee.

For those bloggers that I’m going to inflict this on, here are the rules: You take your folder in which you keep your digital photos, choose the fourth folder, then the fourth picture. Explain. Tag four people.

I’m tagging KT, Terri, Matt, and Cocotte.  Have fun guys…

Here is the photo:

This is a recent photo as it turns out.  This past Thanksgiving diner was put on by my brother’s brother-in-law’s (following?).  He cooked two turkeys that day.  One traditional and the other smoked.  Both were great.

All us guys sat in the backyard and enjoyed our post dinner cigars.

A bunch of handsome guys, don’t you think?

Anti Climatic

Posted under How I See It

The day after the Christmas holiday is always an interesting one.  You’ve spent so much time getting ready for the big day.  The mad rush to buy presents.  You’re frantically setting up the tree.  Remembering to invite that distant aunt while making party plans.  Hastily writing Christmas cards to everyone in your address book, and just plain getting yourself into the festive mood.

Then the day after arrives and you look at that tree and dread that it must come down.  The decorations need to be put away and gift boxes and wrapping paper need to be stored.  There is the shoving of new clothing into the closets all ready overloaded.  The anticipation of fighting the same crowds you did to buy this stuff as you go to return the sweater from your aunt with Santa on it.

I’m fortunate today.  I’m at work.  I know most of you would say, “Why is that fortunate?”

This is the first day back at the office for me in a week.  I’ve been nursing my wife and her foot after surgery and with all the hustle and bustle of Christmas, this was a nice respite.  A breather if you will.  I have no agenda today.  No stores I have to rush off to, no decorations or tree to bring down.  Just a time to exhale (stole this from M).  A time to count my blessings and regroup for the coming year.

I have my life and health, all of which are pretty damn good.  A beautiful wife who loves me and puts up with my guy stuff.  Three gorgeous daughters who are turning into beautiful young ladies before my eyes.  I live where I don’t have to dig out of the snow and the beach is within a bike ride.  I have a job (so far) that provides for us.

So I’m going to sit here today (slow day at work) and cruise the blogsphere and catch up with my friends.  Find out how their holidays went and take the time to wish them the best.

Who needs the excitement…

Running Ragged

Posted under Wife

She calls me from the bedroom.  She yells for me from the living room.  She shouts for me from the shower.  The voice I fell in love with just a few years ago is now becoming a bit irritating.

For those who may not know, my wife recently had foot surgery.  Mobility is by crutches or the borrowed wheelchair.  She is on strict orders to keep the weight off the foot for a few weeks.

That makes me the sole errand boy for the house.  Getting coffee in the morning, fixing breakfast, getting her water, fetching her medication.  Then there’s lunch time, dinners and the always comedic shower time.

And to just throw in some fun, my wife is a morning person.  Yep, she’s up at the crack of dawn ready for the day.  I on the other hand am usually cursing the morning sun and god forbid the person crossing me before my first cup of coffee.

And to top all of this, its Christmas time and if the house wasn’t already cluttered with various knitting (more yarn balls than you can shake a stick at), magazines, books and dvd’s theres all of Christmas with a Christmas tree and a ton of holiday decorations.

I know we had a floor at one time.

When my wife and I got married we said “for sickness or in health” but I think she’s taking advantage of the wedding vows.  I mean I had the flu once, but that only lasted a week.

In all seriousness, I am happy to do this.  She is my love, my confidant, my partner in crime and the one who is stuck with me for a very long time.

I may not be that sexy male nurse (see picture above), but I’m her male nurse.  The sexy comes when she’s up and around.
