Leather is Traditional

As you may know, in my previous post my wife and I just celebrated our third anniversary.  She and I try to incorporate the traditional gift giving that goes with anniversaries. 

The first year was paper and we ended up giving each other books that we both had wanted to read.  Our second year incorporated cotton and china.  I bought her a cotton sweater made in China. 

I thought it was funny…

This year being our third, the traditional gift giving was leather.  Oh goody, finally something I can work with.  My mind went wild thinking about what I could get for my beautiful wife. 

So off I drove to our local “Adult themed” store looking for just the right gift.  Arriving at the store I wondered around looking at all the various items and contraptions that people incorporate into their sex lives.  There are some pretty kinky people out there.

While browsing the cases of leather goods one of the young ladies from behind the counter asked if she could help.  I said I was looking for something in leather for my wife.  I told her that she and I try to buy the traditional items for our anniversaries and that leather was for our third.

She looked at me and said “Ah, how cute is that.  I wish all guys would do that.”  Her associate behind the counter agreed.  “Guys just don’t understand romance anymore.” 

I was taken aback by their response.

You see, both girls were probably in their mid twenties, tattooed, pierced, and looked like they could kick my butt in a dark alley.  It just wasn’t the reaction I was expecting from these two young ladies.

I made my purchase and headed out the door, laughing as I got into the car.  Romance is not dead, even in the back of an adult sex shop.

Oh, and my wife loved her gift.  She saw the humor in it.  That’s probably why I love her, she gets me.
