I’m Not Worried…

Posted under How I See It by Mike

 worry

I’m not worried and I’ll tell you why.  Dan over at Really Worried Dad has got my back.  His blog keeps me updated on the who, what, where and why of things that should concern all of us as parents.

I’m not sure how Dan and I connected.  Either he found me or I stumbled on to his blog.  When you get to be my age, your memory starts to fade unto the sunset.

I think what intrigued me first about Dan’s blog is the picture on his home page.  Father and daughter on the couch with what can only be described as “unusual head wear.”  Way too funny.

But, Dan’s blog is also a wealth of information.  He has written about the topical issues facing us as parents such as the recent pistachios salmonella outbreak.  He’s blogged about everything from agriculture warnings to food packaging issues, from food contaminates to Nigerian scams.  If he hasn’t covered it, he will.

I became concerned that Dan might be worrying too much.

Then he sent me a link to his “day job.”  Dan is an editor for Dollars and Sense, Real World Economics.  This is a site that publishes economic news and analysis, reports on economic justice activism, primers on economic topics, and critiques of the mainstream media’s coverage of the economy. Our readers include professors, students, and activists who value our smart and accessible economic coverage.”

I appreciate what Dan brings to the blogsphere.  Our world can be a scary place, and I’m grateful for those who are watching out for us.

Dan, is it okay out there?

  1. Cocotte Said,

As a family of nuts, who eat a lot of nuts, these scares have been a nightmare. I will have to check out his blog so that I can worry less too.

  2. Worried Dad Said,

Thanks for the shout out Mike.

Cocotte, you’re missing the point. I’m trying to pass off my worries onto others. Fortunately for the world, Mike seems to be the only person who actually reads the thing.

Actually, I started it as a way to keep track of all the scary messages the news throws at us parents. The problem is, the more I read my own posts, the more worried I get.

  3. citizen of the world Said,

Sometimes I want to just cut myself off from all news. I heard the pistachios thing last night. Damn! If even the healthyfoods aren’t safe, what can we do? I just pray that wine and chocolate stay safe.

Thanks for the link. I’m on my way to check out Worried Dad’s blog.

  5. Cocotte Said,

Ok – I just went to his blog and it is amazing that there are so many warnings out there to warrant a blog like that! I actually found it amusing.

Cocotte: “I actually found it amusing” is one of the nicest things anyone’s said about my blog. Thanks!

  7. movin' Said,

I’m scared. I was scared when I realized the peanut butter crackers in my cupboard were the ones that were being recalled. (as well as the energy bars). Dan’s blog is great, I check it out once in a while. I stop reading when I start feeling the anxiety coming on and try again later…

  8. Bad Momma Said,

Now I am worried. A man that writes about the economy is more worried about food safety!

Isn’t it bad enough we have to worry about putting food on the table. NOW I have to be concerned about poisoning my family……

    How’s that for irony?
