And probably not safe for work as well…
My appreciation for cigars has been an on again, off again affair. My first cigar as a young adult made me turn green in the gills. But through the years I have found an appreciation for the subtleties of the cigar.
Cigars are tasted and appreciated much like wine. Connoisseurs or aficionados as they are called, appreciate the nuances that the tobacco brings to its smoker. Where as wines will be described as “soft and elegant” or “ripe and round” with “flavors of insert fruit name here,” cigars will use “toasty and creamy” or “spicy with nutty notes” to describe their complexity.
So with an appreciation for cigars and being of the male persuasion, I have ventured far and wide to present the following cigar ads. Some you’ll recognize from days gone by, others I just like and are fun.
Enjoy…
I didn’t know this was how you roll a cigar.
(rated R or at least PG-13).

Great old ads!
Couple of them are pretty racy.
Hammer’s last blog post..Some Thursday funnies
That’s funny. They use to get away with a lot back in the old days – like having a kid smoke a cigar in Disney’s Pinocchio movie.

Oral cancer aside (which, incidentally is how Freud died – big gaping hole in the side of his face), and disgusting ads also aside, my issue with cigars is that they reek. Honestly, the sickineing mix of sweet and rot, I don’t understand the appeal. I have left restuarants before where someone was smoking a cigar – I just could not eat with that smell in the air.

I’m with Citizen……..I really can’t tolerate the smell either. But I like the sexy ads from the 60′s.

With advertising like that, no wonder so many men love cigars!
I’ve always wondered… do you actually inhale them?

Hmmm, So maybe Bill Clinton was just a true aficionado? Monica was trying to help him enjoy a good cigar.

Dude. The end is the key to that video

Sex to sell something to men. Who would’ve thought.
I love the old ads. I have a few old ads from local breweries. I framed them and hung them as art.

those are too funny!! I love the ‘blow in her face and she’ll follow you anywhere’! And the last one… I’m going to have to show that one to Mr. C. He’ll get a kick out of it!
Jen’s last blog post..My Kids are cuter than your Kids…
I’ve probably said it before, but I love the smell of a good cigar. Never smoked one, and never intend to, but the smell of one outside on a summer night? I’m all about it.

I actually don’t mind the smell of cigars.
I had no idea some of the older ads were so…uh…suggestive
Momisodes’s last blog post..Nothin’ to sneeze at
I’ve actually smoked a Cuban cigar in Havana. There’s nothing like it.

There’s nothing wrong with these ads as far as I can see. I’ve seen the “rolling” (more than once LOL)
I also enjoy a cigar.
The old ads were accepted then and should be accepted now.
Fun post!
heh heh heh
