Tired…

Posted under How I See It, Wife by Mike

What the hell?

Because of the weird way things have worked out here at work, I have an abundance of vacation time.  I need to use it or lose it when I leave in a couple of weeks.  With that I’ve gone ahead and used my vacation time to take four day weekends for the past couple of months.

Friday through Monday away from work.  Four days off and only three to spend at the office.  You would have thought I had died and went to heaven.

With all this time off I was afraid I’d be in the same situation as Jen who writes The Cubicle’s Backporch.  Jen, who recently found herself without a job wrote a post called, “If My Job Kicks The Bucket List” List.  She asked her readers for suggestions on how to stay busy while looking for employment.

If only I had that luck.

The list of things I’ve been asked to do grows like a “baseball player on steroids.”  The last few weekends I’ve spent my time…

  • Painting the living room.  How do you get blue paint out from under your fingernails?
  • Building a six drawer chest of drawers for my wife.  Thank God my wife speaks “Ikea.”  I don’t  read the instructions.  It’s a guy thing.
  • I’ve been to three, (count them) three plays in the last couple of weeks.  Rent, Our Mother’s Brief Affair, Forbidden Brodway.  I’ve been told that I should expect more stage time soon.
  • The wife and I have been to California Adventure (Disneyland Jr.)
  • She’s planning for us to go to Disneyland (the original) in the next week.
  • She’s now decided that we need to paint the kitchen, the stairwell and the upstairs hallway.  Who knew that there were that many shades of yellow?
  • My wife’s birthday is today.  Happy Birthday, Honey!!! (crap, got to get that present wrapped).
  • My mother’s birthday party is at our house this weekend (I’ve got to get the house cleaned).

I need to go back to work.

I could use the rest.

I’m tired….

Wasn’t Rent your daughters play? How did it go?

  3. terri Said,

I always considered the fact that my husband doesn’t read instructions to be a fault of his. I hope he doesn’t get wind of this “speaks Ikea” thing. He’ll be patting himself on the back!

  5. OhCaptain Said,

Wish your wife a happy birthday for us! 4 day weekends. Sounds like fun, I might need to try those some day.

Must be a computer programmer thing, for some reason, I give the directions one good read and then do them from memory. At least with the Ikea stuff. It’s also fun to try and speak scandahoovien.
