No Complaints…
Posted under How I See It by MikeFor of those of you who might not have been reading the news lately, we Southern Californians have been a bit shook up lately.
First on Sunday we had a 4.7 magnitude earthquake that rock and rolled my house pretty good. Then on Tuesday afternoon (two days later!) an aftershock (still a quake) of 4.0 hit us.
For those of my fellow bloggers out there who live out in the Midwest or on the East Coast and complain about the weather. Stop it…
You know when bad weather is coming. You know when a storm is about to head your way. You can batten down the hatches and prepare for whatever Mother Nature has in store for you.
Try as we do, we still can’t tell when an earthquake is going to hit. My chances on hitting the lottery are better than my best guess would be on the next quake, let alone two in the same week.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go around and tie down everything I own. If two can hit in this week, God knows what to expect next week.

I can imagine an earthquake being one of the worst types of natural disaster. We come to rely on the stability of the ground beneath our feet. When that goes, there’s not much left you can trust.

yikes! Having grown up there near you, with earthquakes, fires, landslides, well, I am grateful for the snowy winters and forecasts, even if they are wrong most the time

We get little trimmers every now and then…..and I mean little. I couldn’t imagine what a real one would do. They say we’re due one since the last big one here was in the late 1800′s. I hope you don’t get anymore for a while. Beer induced earthquakes are probably not even very predictable (love the picture), but certainly the better of the two options.
I hope everything was o.k. with you guys.

Us East Coasters can complain about the weather because we had the sense to NOT move to where the GROUND REGULARLY SHAKES FOR NO FREAKIN REASON?!?!?!?!?
I’d say move to Jersey, but I wouldn’t want you to laugh yourself into a coronary

Even having to ride out or evacuate for several hurricanes, I still would choose a storm over an earthquake. We can get as much as a week heads up, no reason to be caught unprepared.
Hope you all are okay and had no damage.

I hope you and the family are ok. Keep us posted.
Glad you made it through the quakes. They keep telling us in Arkansas that we sit on one of the most dangerous fault lines in the country The New Madrid Fault. I hope it never breaks loose. I can do without earthquakes.

I’m not complaining about the weather. We had two ninety some degree days in a row here in MN! In MAY!
Hope that’s the last of the earthquakes for a while. I don’t think I could live there. I couldn’t deal with it.

And that’s EXACTLY why I live in Colorado!!! I lived in Yucca Valley in 1992 when that HUGE one hit…..NEVER again!!!

I’m with Terri. Which isn’t probably all that surprising since we live in the same state…

Yeah, earthquakes are bad and unpredictable. But tornadoes, which we get, can also catch people off guard and have devastating consequences. Flash floods aren’t so pretty either. I had a coworker whose husband’s car was caught in a flash flood here and he drowned. The earth creates some awesomely dangerous weather conditions all over.

Freak tornado warnings wear me out. I could NOT handle the earthquakes.
