Global Warming?

Posted under How I See It by Mike

As I write this at 5:30  wait, (damn time change), I mean 4:30 in the afternoon today the weather report is 77 degrees in Newport Beach.  Yeah, 77 degrees on November 1st.  What the hell?

Living in Southern California, which I love by the way, has it’s advantages.  Clean air when the Santa Ana winds blow the smog out to sea, hardly any traffic at 3:00 in the morning, and the lack of anything resembling snow to shovel.  But honestly, it’s November 1st and I’m still running around in shorts and a t-shirt.

I’m not bragging, I’m just a bit confused.  Three weeks before Thanksgiving and I’ll probably be carving the turkey with my flip flops on.  Usually by this time we’re seeing the first of some cold fronts coming around.  Temps droping down into the low 40′s at the very least.  But not this year not yet. beach_santa

If this keeps up, Christmas will be spent by the pool with everyone working on their tans.

  1. terri Said,

I might be inclined to agree with the global warming theory if it hadn’t already snowed twice in this neck of the woods. If you’re hanging out be the pool at Christmas time, I’m coming over.

Sorry dude…This is precisely why I love living here.

I grew up in Northeast and lived in Florida for 14 years…nothing beats this weather – Any time of year!

  3. Anne in SC Said,

We had a teaser of cold a few weeks ago, back up to mid 80′s for Halloween week, and now, cool again. I’m confused too, but love how we keep skirting the cold issue. The Christmas Eve I met my husband we were horseback riding and I was cussing the long pants we HAD to wear because we were on the horse. We never know what the Thanksgiving weather will be like.

  4. Cocotte Said,

I’ll take any sort of global warming here. But this area is notorious for it being 75 degrees one day and 35 degrees the next.

Here’s why I don’t buy into the global warming theory: why are so many people being diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency all of a sudden? They told my husband he needs to take 4000 IU’s/day. And this is someone who doesn’t use sunscreen.
