Time to Start Building That Ark….
Posted under How I See It by Mike
So much for sunny Southern California. Those wonderful guys at the weather channel have said we are in for a LOT of rain in the next week. Something like five (yeah, five!) storms are all backed up and coming our way. No sunshine till next week sometime. Everyone knows I enjoy wearing my shorts most of the year. I wonder if I can get rain slickers as shorts?
On another note, Russ over at Dad’s Who Mock the World sent me an email about vacationing with his wife. Russ knows that I love to wine taste and California has some great wineries to explore. However, he and his lovely bride would like to explore the Great Pacific Northwest. I’ve not really had the opportunity to check out wineries in Oregon or Washington. So as a friend, I’d like to send it out to anyone who’s had the chance to partake in the grapes of those two fine states.
Maybe Ken over at Daddy Forever who is in the great state of Oregon could help us out.
Hope this blog post finds everyone in good spirits and that those who have the MLK day off (unlike I, who has everyday off) enjoy it with family and friends….

Thats funny (well) because every time I was down there it rained more than sun.
Stay dry, Get a pair of waders and cut the legs off!
Oh, I’m working today (MLK)

I hope you don’t get any flooding. Mother Nature can really suck.

That must be a crazy experience for you. I bet it is like snow in arkansas in that it causes people to freak out.

I’ve been hearing how heavy the rain has been there. When I lived out I think it rained two or three days of the year….and it was light rain.
Hang in there!

Yeah, I’m looking forward to staying in this weekend. I hope your friend got an answer. I LOVE the Pacific NW for hiking and hope I get back there a few more times, but I’ve never been wine-tasting (I don’t drink; it makes me sick!haha)
It’s always so nice to hear from you, Mike. Hope all is well with you and that you find those shorts!
We are getting rained on today as well. No complaints, though. I’ll take the 40-50 degree rainy weather over snow & frost that we have been getting.
While I don’t have a favorite Oregon or Pacific NW wine at the moment (other than Mad Housewife for the label!) My new favorite California winery is Sterling. One of their great value wines is their Vintner’s Collection Meritage that retails approx. $10-12 a bottle.
Been catching up on reading here….
I am so sick of the rain, I can’t stand it. We’ve had to drain the pool down twice since Christmas (and we’re across the country from each other). I swear that was a stretch of about two weeks when we didn’t see the sun – ugh.
I like the title for your book. If I run into a publisher I’ll be sure to give him your info.
Stay dry!

We just had major rain and a major melt. Unusual for New England at the moment. I hear it was colder there than here last week!

Welcome to my world. It’s still raining over here, but I hear you got most of our rain this winter.

As Daddy Forever said, it’s raining now… but it’s been relatively dry this season. For Oregon.
As for those wineries… have been to Columbia and Chateau Ste Michelle in Washington, both are pretty good – close to Seattle but surrounded by horrendous traffic during rush hours.
Haven’t been to Oregon wineries yet (only lived here 10 years, gotta get used to it first) but intend to go this summer. I hear there’s a ton of great places to visit in the Willamette valley.
