My Observations
When I started thinking about writing a blog, I did a lot of investigating. Not because I’m a cautious person. No far from it, just ask my wife. I usually throw caution to the wind. It’s just I have way too much time on my hands. Did I mention I work for a California bank awaiting the inevitable FDIC arrival?
At first I thought (now don’t laugh), that I’d start a blog and that with some time I’d end up with a huge audience. These people would all admire my writing (quit laughing), and that they would see monetary value in it. My investigating to other sites said that I’d be rolling in the money after I garnered my following. They promised that if I followed their plan I was guaranteed to make money.
And now after blogging since June 26th of this year I have achieved the following:
· 99 well written posts
· 701 well thought out comments to my pages (thank you)
· 247 not so well thought out comments (spam)
· 4,431 viewers (not counting me) who lurk but may not write
So I got to ask you all out there. Where the hell is the money that’s supposed to be rolling in?
I write interesting, prevalent posts. I try not to misspell too often. I don’t rattle on incessantly as some of my fellow bloggers (who will remain nameless) out there. I even put up cute pictures of interesting people, like my co-workers, family and strange people with duct tape over their butts.
I don’t know, maybe I need to rethink this “money making idea” again.
Think there’s a chance we could bring back the “Pet Rock?”

My Observations
I’ve been reading lately my friend and a friend to some of you as well, Weasel Momma from World of Weasels and her family’s dilemma. Her husband was recently laid off in their one income family.
I too am finding myself in a similar situation. I currently work for a bank in Southern California. That in itself is a deadly combination. The bank has recently released its third quarter statements after which the CEO sent out a memo to all employees.
Let me paraphrase what he said in that memo. “Oh shit”
I am fortunate that my wife works as a school teacher and is gainfully employed. I’m normally an optimistic person and I’ve survived layoffs and companies closing before. I also think that this economy is in a down cycle and that sooner or later brighter days will prevail, eventually.
I know that we all blog for various reasons. Some of us to have fun, some us to vent, and even some to be creative. I think I do it for all the above reasons. Sometimes well, other times, not so well. I get an A for effort…
With all that said, I need to apologize to all bloggers out there that I take the time to read and comment. After reading Weasel Momma I realized that I wasn’t finishing the job of participating in your blogs.
I need to click the ads. It’s a simple thing to do. Click an ad when I’ve finished reading about your life, loves, travels and families.
I know many of you are not in financial straits and can afford the cost of hosting your blog. I’m not rich (still waiting on the stupid lottery) but I do this because I enjoy it. I budget for this like I do for the cigars I enjoy. This is not a solicitation for me.
But really, if you like what you read, why not support the writers. Nobody’s going to get rich on these ads and the small change can go a long way towards keeping our network of blog families together.
Just a thought……

My Observations
Can I get a hallelujah my friends?
-
No more campaign speeches.
-
No more ads that make you feel like the end of the world is coming.
-
No more debates where both candidates avoid the questions and add their own spin on it.
-
No more analysis from “experts” out there on who will win and why.
For those of you who voted congratulations on participating in the process.
For those who voted for Obama, congratulations to a well fought campaign.
As I watched the television last night and saw so many crying and cheering for their candidate. My thoughts were, be careful with your enthusiasm.
When you hoist a man like Obama so high on a “pedestal” with the expectations of so much, you also take the risk of him falling. We can’t afford for a President to fall at this time.
And now a little quiet for the time being until the next campaign comes around. A reprieve if you will for a short time…
That is until Arnold “The Terminator” decides to run again.

My Observations,
Wife

It just doesn’t get much better than this….
And yes, I’m going with my wife’s blessing. She’ll just go out and buy more yarn.

My Observations,
Wife
I would love to take the credit for the statement above, but I need to attribute this to Bill Kristol, Editor of the “Weekly Standard.”
He was recently interviewed on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” the other night. Bill and Jon are polar opposites in their political views and Bill’s statement (see above) resonated with my wife and me, also polar opposites (getting cold in here).
Bill Kristol summed up his views pretty succinctly in stating that “If you’re a liberal you should be voting Obama, if you’re a conservative then your vote should be for McCain.” This isn’t rocket science folks.
And even though my wife and I have voted early by mail (and cancelled each other out)
Please don’t forget to vote.
